Board of Children,
Youth & Families

Position Title: Member
Board of  Children, Youth & Families                 

Overview:
The stated goal of this board is to nurture the spirituality of our youth and children, helping them deepen their commitment to Plymouth’s covenantal theology, challenging them to compassionate action in the wider community and affirming the unique nature of each young person and their innate value as an integral part of our congregation.

The Board and it’s staff is responsible for administering and overseeing quality educational programs for children and youth as well as annual intergenerational events for the whole congregation.  Board programs and activities include: childacare for infants, church school, jr. high programs, confirmation class and PF (sr. high).

Term:
Three-year term. Member may serve two consecutive terms.

Meetings:
The Board meets once a month on the second Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Committee meetings are set up according to need and the Church year schedule.

Communication:
The Board communicates mainly by email. Phone calls are also used and a lot of the communication is in person as well.

Leadership Day

Responsibilities:
Members are expected to attend the meetings each month and their assigned committee meetings when scheduled. Members are also expected to learn the duties and responsibilities of the other boards, so that projects that involve cross-board responsibilities are clear and defined. Program leadership, communication to church members and communication within the board are roles that members should be responsible for.

Attend as faithfully as possible services of worship and contribute toward the financial support of the church.

Desired characteristics:
Interested in learning and teaching.
Being involved with the youth community.

Qualifications:
Active Member of Plymouth Church

Offered to committee members:
Reimbursement for agreed upon expenses in accordance with the Board budget.
