Board of Fine Arts

Position Title: Fine Arts Board (FAB) Member

Mission Statement of the Fine Arts Board of Plymouth (revised 2007):

The Fine Arts Board of Plymouth Church supports and nurtures literary, performing and visual arts programs as well as other cultural activities for the benefit of the congregation and the community at large.  We believe these artistic initiatives enrich and strengthen the spiritual lives of all in the community and weave the church into the cultural fabric of the world around us. 

Overview

• In addition to its elected membership, the Fine Arts Board may appoint two additional members to represent any arts group of the Church that uses the Theater regularly.
• The Board shall be responsible for initiating, developing and sustaining programs in the performing, literary and visual arts, excluding activities that relate to the worship services of the Church.

Term: The term of a member of the FAB is three (3) years. 

Meetings:  The FAB meets monthly on the second Wednesday, 5:15 p.m.,  in the Conference Room (September through June only)

Communication:  The FAB’s primary method of communication is via email.  Please advise the board chair if alternate arrangements need to be made.

Retreats/other events
one is expected to attend:
Leadership Day, which is generally held in October.

Committees of the FAB

• Literary Witnesses
• Gallery Committee
• Docents Committee
• PR/Education Committee
• Accessions Committee

Responsibilities
FAB members are asked to attend monthly meetings and participate in the activities of at least one committee of the board, as well as the basic duties of membership: to attend as faithfully as possible the services of worship and to contribute toward the financial support of the church.  (In cases of financial limitations or hardship, please note that any amount contributed to the church is acceptable to meet the requirement of board leadership.)

Qualifications
Prospective members of the FAB must be active members of Plymouth Church and have an interest in supporting and promoting the mission statement of the Fine Arts Board, as stated above.
