Board of Member Care

Position Title: Board of Member Care Member

Board Overview
The responsibilities of the Board of Member Care shall be two-fold:

Board Term
Board members shall be elected for terms of three years.  All new Board members elected at the annual meeting shall begin their terms on July 1.  Board members who are appointed to fill a vacant position shall begin their terms upon appointment.  For purposes of eligibility to serve another term, a member appointed to a partial term of more than one year shall be deemed to have served a full term.  Unless otherwise specifically provided in the Bylaws, after serving a full term, a Board member shall be ineligible for one year for re-election on the same Board.

Meetings
The Board meets the third Thursday of every other month and the committees meet the month in between.

Communication
The committee members communicate largely by e-mail.

Board Retreat
Leadership Day
50-year member recognition event
Vespers
Sunday greeters/hosts

Committees
Congregational Involvement:  This committee cares for the life events that happen with the members of Plymouth; at the present time we have a bereavement follow-up that includes contacting members for a visit and/or a card and book.  This plan may evolve into future follow-up such as babies, marriages, etc. 

Events:  This committee plans and carries out the annual 50-year member recognition event, is responsible to see there are Sunday greeters and hosts for our board’s assigned month and is responsible to work with Cathie Crooks on the Vespers services which are held quarterly.

Responsibilities
Attendance at meetings
Attend as faithfully as possible the services of worship
Contribute towards the financial support of the church.

Desired characteristics
Willing to take a leadership role on the board and/or on a committee
Have a passion for member care
Good interpersonal communication skills

Qualifications
Active Member of Plymouth Church

Offered to committee members
Reimbursement for agreed upon expenses in accordance with the Board budget.
