Tara Bauer

Rev. Tara Bauer jokes that her first preaching experience was as a child to a herd of Holstein cows on the Wisconsin dairy farm where she grew up. “Those cows never experienced anything as dramatic as the day I realized there was something as powerful as God’s love,” she says.

Tara graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire with a B.A. in Journalism-Advertising with a minor in cultures, and worked in marketing for several years. She enjoys exercising, kayaking and travelling as well as quieter pursuits: photography, food, theater, art and literature.  As part of her travels, Tara has survived the second highest bungee jump, being charged by a rhino and a hippo (two separate incidents), and having a baboon steal her cookies.

Tara may look familiar to some Plymouth members since she’s been a member since 2008 and was “in-care” with the church towards ordination with the United Church of Christ in February 2011. She earned her Master’s of Divinity with a concentration in Pastoral Care from Bethel Seminary, St. Paul.  In addition to her role as the Lilly Pastoral Resident, Tara is a chaplain in the Air Force Reserve.

Her interests as the Pastoral Resident include church leadership and administration, pastoral care, young adults and social justice.  Besides her presence during worship services, you may also catch glimpse of her talking to Drop-In Center participants or visiting with people at Third Sunday meal.
