Pledging

Like many churches, Plymouth asks its members to support the church with an annual pledge commitment. We do this on Consecration Sunday, the last Sunday in October. Pledges are also welcome at any time during the year.

Consecration is the process by which time, talent or money is devoted to a sacred purpose. Plymouth consecrates many things throughout its church life. We celebrate many of Plymouth’s activities through consecration. The Annual Giving Committee asks each member of Plymouth to think of our annual pledges as devoting to a sacred purpose a portion of what has been given to us.

While pledging helps the church determine a realistic financial budget, the main purpose of pledging is the spiritual benefit it brings to the donor. By making a formal commitment, we create a strong bond between ourselves and the church, and this, in turn, contributes to our spiritual development.
