Growing up, giving

Annual Giving
Campaign 2010

Plymouth members mean to make a difference in the world through progressive Christian ideals, inspiring worship, nurturing children, caring for one another and reaching out to our neighborhood and our world. These ambitious goals require generous and widespread contributions by our members and friends.

Members of Plymouth Congregational Church are asked to make a pledge or estimate of their giving each year.

Giving to the church is a spiritual practice that moves us in the direction of being more and more generous people, a shared value at Plymouth. One traditional and ancient practice of giving is tithing, or proportional giving (giving a percentage of our income, trying to increase a step at a time, year by year.)  Those new to proportional giving often begin by setting aside one or two percent of their income for the church. Many set ten percent as their ultimate goal, and some give more. Like all spiritual practices nurtured over time, such as meditation or prayer, proportional giving can deepen our awareness of God’s abundance and foster in us a spirit of openness and contentment.

For more information on Plymouth’s annual campaign, contact Jeffrey Sartain, Executive Minister, at 612/977-1274, jeffs@plymouth.org.
