It's our home
Progressive faith healing the world

The Word as a Healing Voice
The Bible is familiar resource at Plymouth Church, but it’s not one we take for granted or at face value. Our ministers and scholars invite us to reflect on how these early-century texts can inform and enrich our 21st-century lives. Our teachers illuminate the context of the scripturest—the writer, the audience, the setting, the values of the community, the translations, the roots of key words—which gives them life and relevance. We are invited to embrace, memorize, question, revisit and even reject verses which confound or comfort us. We are encouraged to dig into the texts and dig around, seeking fertile ground for our faith. When we pledge at Plymouth, we ensure that the Word is a healing voice in our world, not a punitive or demanding one. At Plymouth, the Bible is one of many voices welcoming all to our home.

Plymouth Church presents a vision of faith based on tolerance, openness and understanding, in a world bristling with enmities, many based on religious intolerance.

Pledge prayers, 2011

Our 2012 Giving Campaign needs everyone's participation. You can make a difference!

With gratitude and commitment to help Plymouth be all it can be, consider what you can give to Plymouth. We invite you to pledge or to expand your giving in 2012.

Make a pledge for the 2012 year one of two ways: (1) pledge on-line (see below); or (2) complete the pledge letter you received in the mail and mail it to the church or place it in the offering plate by 11/20/2011. You will receive a confirmation of your pledge.

For more information on Plymouth’s annual campaign, contact Jeffrey Sartain, Executive Minister, at 612/977-1274, jeffs@plymouth.org.
