Help choose new
board members


We invite suggestions for leadership at Plymouth.

Plymouth's boards carry out vital work for the church. The Church Council serves as the Nominating Committee and invites your suggestions of individuals who might be considered for future leadership.

Click on the name of the board below for a description of its work and a link to a position description.

Click on the link in the right column of this page to submit a suggestion on-line. Use a new form for each suggestion. Suggested names will be carefully considered. You may suggest yourself.

Board members must be active members of Plymouth.

Children, Youth & Families
New members needed: 6 (3-year term)
Qualifications: Interest in supporting the families and children of Plymouth; need not be a parent.

Deacons
New members needed: 8 (3-year term)
Qualifications: Cultivate their own spiritual lives; help foster unity in the congregation through active listening and openness to all points of view; be knowledgeable about the church's history and traditions; display compassionate care for church members and strangers alike; demonstrate wisdom in directing the church's future; nuture the congregations's relationships with the larger church and the world; be willing to serve on (or chair) two of the board's seven committees -- Adult Forum, Benevolence, Global Connections, Religious Exploration, Spiritual Enrichment, Wider Church Relations, Worship.

Fine Arts
New members needed: 4 (3-year term)
Qualifications: A love of the arts at Plymouth.  Past members have included professional artists, writers, musicians, actors, photographers, etc., as well as non-professionals who love the arts and value this essential part of the Plymouth experience.

Member Care
New members needed: 4 (3-year term) plus 1 for a 2-year term.
Qualifications: Good interpersonal skills with an emphasis on listening,  compassion, comfort with one-on-one support, interest in sharing ideas and gently lead in committee work.

Membership
New members needed: 3 (3-year term)
Qualifications: Energetic people of all ages who enjoy meeting new friends, helping throughout the year with new member classes, staffing the Welcome Table on Sunday mornings, greeting people during the morning social time, assisting with potluck dinners to welcome new members and have willingness to assist in organizational aspects of these and other board activities.

Outreach
New members needed: 4 (3-year term)
Qualifications: Commitment to social justice issues, desire to connect faith with action and live out the radical love and justice of Jesus among the most vulnerable. Interest in advocacy and neighborhood concerns.

Stewards
New members needed: 3 (3-year term) plus 1 for a 1-year term
Qualifications: Friendly and warm presence. Available to provide hospitality to the congregation on Sunday mornings (at least twice a month) and for special events. Need at least one person with technology experience.

Trustees
New members needed: 3 (4-year term)
Qualifications: Skills including managing budgets, accounting and financial reporting, investments, real estate or property management, marketing and communications and human resources. Specifically, skills that are currently needed include managing budgets, investments and real estate.
