Revitalizing the Ojibwe Language
Heid Erdich

Award-winning Ojibwe teacher and poet Heid Erdrich will discuss the importance of preserving and revitalizing native languages. Erdrich, a former professor of literature and writing at the
University of St. Thomas, is currently Director of Wiigwaas Press which publishes Ojibwe (Anishinabe) language books and develops language education curricula. She will discuss the influence of Ojibwe language learning on creative writers publishing today. She will also lead a beginning language lesson in Ojibwe.

This is an opportunity for Plymouth members to learn more about the Ojibwe culture and the important work of preserving its culture through language.

Co-sponsored by Plymouth’s American Indian Initiative.
