Adult Forum, Jan. 15

Commemorating the Life and Legacy of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Hawona Sullivan Janzen and Chuck Grose

MP3 recording
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and questions for living:
• What can we learn from each other about Dr. King?
• What happens when we take Dr. King seriously today?
• What might be his call to action for us?

King provided the conceptualization of the Movement’s essence. He is also an role model for all of us as a catalyst for fundamental social change.

Much of our Forum will address our deep concerns about King today and our untamed questions. Motivated by last year’s program (titled “If King were alive today, what would he ask of us?”), we shall energize each other in our small-group discussions with leadership by Plymouth members. As a special bonus, we shall hear about Dr. King from some neighbors of Plymouth
Congregational Church.

Church members Hawona Sullivan Janzen and Chuck Grose will coordinate our Forum. Hawona is curator of the gallery at the Urban Research and Outreach/Engagement Center of the University of Minnesota in North Minneapolis. Chuck was chair of the race relation department at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a former student of Dr. King at Boston University.
