Serving our church and our community

There are many opportunities to serve both at Plymouth and in the community. Church School and Youth programs are frequently in need of teachers or aides. Volunteer receptionists are needed to greet visitors in Jones Commons. Member Care has Visitors and BeFrienders programs as outreach to members needing visits and companionship. Plymouth’s Outreach program includes 15 Plymouth and community working groups serving Plymouth’s neighborhoods and beyond, including an opportunity to volunteer for Families Moving Forward. The Archives Committee seeks helping hands—and expertise—as it collects, maintains and preserves Plymouth Church's story. And, of course Plymouth’s Boards and Committees are frequently in need of new members with new ideas.

Sharing the Ministry

Sharing the Ministry is a model of how we live out our mission of embodying the radical love and justice of Jesus. Sharing the Ministry aims to match the abundant and varied gifts and interests of members of our spiritual community with opportunities to serve in our congregation and the wider community. Our goal: an even more vibrant and engaged Plymouth Church home where everyone’s gifts will be seen, valued and utilized. We are building a database with ministry descriptions. We invite you to participate by sharing with the church your gifts and interests. You may download the PDF here. Please return the completed forms to the church office.

In 2012, a commissioning program was created to recognize and support the very significant ministries made by Plymouth members both within and outside our beloved church. With this commissioning program, the Wider Church Relations Committee of the Board of Deacons also hopes to foster new lay ministries.
