Communion

Communion at both services is celebrated on the first Sunday in October, first Sunday in Advent, first Sunday in Lent, Maundy Thursday, Pentecost and once during the summer.

All people are welcome at the table of the Lord’s Supper (Communion) at Plymouth. The minister often begins the service with these words: “No matter to what faith tradition you belong, you’re invited to join us at this table. As we gather we’re reminded that this is not our table, but the table of Christ who welcomes all.”

Children of all ages are also welcome to partake of the sacrament. The decision about when a child may first receive Communion at Plymouth is left up to the parents/caregivers. When children share in the meal of the Lord’s Supper, they know they have a place where they can experience God’s unconditional love and belonging in the faith community. Our ministers and our Director of Children’s Programs are happy to talk with parents and caregivers individually if they have further questions about their child’s participation in Communion.
