Plymouth Bee-Together Silent Auction 2018

Dear Fellow Plymouth members and friends,

As you can see, we have a wonderful list of gatherings for you to enjoy this summer. We hope you will bid on them and help us reach this year’s Stewardship Campaign goal—we are so close! All proceeds of the Silent Auction will go to the Stewardship Campaign.

You will have three opportunities to bid on these items before the Silent Auction closes at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 20.

  1. Bid Online. The Silent Auction opens online on May 3. Please email Ellen van Iwaarden if you want to start the bidding or continue the bidding and watch this website to increase your bid to win. Online bidding closes on Thursday, May 17.
  2. Bid at the Spring Fling. The Silent Auction sheets will be out for bidding at the Spring Fling Dance at Plymouth from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday night, May 19.
  3. Bid at the Happy Birthday Party. Your last chance to bid on events will be at the Happy Birthday Party after church on Sunday, May 20. Bidding will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will end at 1:00 p.m. The highest bidder at 1:00 on Sunday, May 20 will win!

Also, please watch this website for additional events that will be added each week! We’d like to give a huge thank you to our donors of these great events. We hope you’ll take one or more of these opportunities to spend time with Plymouth friends old and new.

Mini-Pilgrimage: A Summer Morning on the Labyrinth

Spend a summer morning in the midst of nature, walking the two Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality outdoor labyrinths in St. Paul. This mini-pilgrimage will offer a time to slow down and breathe in beauty. One labyrinth will encircle you with old oaks, the other with flowers. The morning includes an introduction to the ancient practice of pilgrimage, walking the labyrinths and journaling.  A pilgrim’s picnic will be provided on the lawn. This event is limited to 12 lucky pilgrims who will travel together from Plymouth to the labyrinths and back. Date and rain date to be determined—watch this space for updates.

Doug will guide you as you sample a variety of Minnesota beers at the home of Catherine Shreves and Tom Bird, who will provide beer-worthy refreshments. David will plan the details of the outing with you to a local area of natural interest and will pick Where, When, and What will be of most interest to your “Bee-Together Group.” David and his wife Sue would love to invite the group back to their home for a debriefing of the event and perhaps a beverage and light snacks. They are looking forward to connecting with you. The walk will be approximately two hours long and the group will be limited to 12 people.

Join noted flower arranger and Plymouth Choir member Janeen Rae for a flower arranging class. Janeen will present several basic floral styles, exploring the design principles of Ikebana and western flower arrangement. Attendees will bring their own vase or containers and leave with a gorgeous floral arrangement. The floral materials will be provided. Maximum of 10 participants. The date and time for the class will be determined with the winning bidders.

Kayak Outing for Up to 3 People

We’ll go paddling for up to 3 hours in a river or lake of your choice within 25 miles of Plymouth or within 25 miles of Bloomington. I’ll provide the sea kayaks, paddles, and life jackets. No experience necessary. Everyone who tries it wants to do it again! I’ve taught people ranging from my 5-year-old nephew to my 103-year-old grandma to kayak. Some options for location include: Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, Hyland Lake in Bloomington, St. Croix River near Stillwater, Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers Near Ft. Snelling. Or many other possibilities. We’ll decide on a mutually agreeable date and location after the auction. This outing can include up to three people (i.e., yourself and two friends, family members, or total strangers).
My grandma, who is now 105, is in the front of the red tandem kayak in the photo below, two weeks ago, in Hyland Lake.
