Spiritual Exploration: Forest Bathing/Forest Therapy

August 7 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 am

Forest Bathing is a gentle, mindful, walk in nature. The practice of Forest Bathing (also called Forest or Nature Therapy) is based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, an intentional practice of mindful nature immersion developed to treat stress-related illnesses.

Forest bathing is different from a hike or an interpretative nature walk. Forest bathing walks often span less than ½ mile. The focus is on the sensory and relational experience, rather than on intellectual learning about nature or getting a workout.

Sessions to be held rain or shine, but will be canceled in the event of thunderstorms or other dangerous weather. Please dress appropriately for the weather (i.e. in rain gear if raining, sun-smart choices if sunny and hot). At times, you will be invited to sit – please bring a portable seat (camp chair, folding stool, or cushion) if you’d like to sit off the ground. Physical distancing will be practiced. Please bring a mask to wear during gathering times. Please let Johanna know if you have any sensory or mobility challenges to be aware of before the session.
