In existence more than 12 years, Discussions that Encounter is a discussion forum in which race and racism in American society takes center stage. Among the core beliefs and principles of the group are that race is a politically invented ideology that divides the world’s population into categories of superior and inferior being, and also a sociopolitical system that gives the idea of race life, meaning and generational consciousness. On the second Thursday of the month, this group meets at St. Olaf Church in downtown Minneapolis.
The evening starts with a free meal from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.—an opportunity for fellowship and the chance to meet someone new. The program starts at 7:00 and runs until 8:30.
