Meet the Peacemakers, Part II on Israel and Palestine
Hear stories of peacemaker-leaders from both sides of the 1948 Green Line who are working to build bridges and work for a just peace for all people who share the Land we call Holy. These stories are from Christians, Muslims, and Jews who are committed to building bridges of understanding, who work together nonviolently to preserve human rights, and who celebrate Palestine’s artistic and cultural riches.
Joan Deming is a retired United Methodist pastor and nonprofit executive director. Through her nonprofit work, she has led 17 group tours to Israel and Palestine since 2009 with a focus on meeting Palestinian Christians. This community has shrunk from 20% to about 1% of Israel/Palestine’s population over the last 75 years. She will lead a group of 25 Plymouth members on a 2-week pilgrimage this fall, and the group will share their experiences at a Sunday Forum early in 2024.
