We are going to read poetry again during April, Poetry Month! Like last year, we’ll be on zoom and it will be great.
Come share a favorite poem with other Plymouth members. Open to all. We read aloud to each other and create an atmosphere of close companionship through a common love of language.
Because we’ll be Zoom-ing this year, we ask that you sign up ahead of time. Please call or email me, Carrie Bassett, at 612-229-1937 or carolinebassett7@gmail.com. Or you can just show up—we can accommodate one and all.
Please send me also the author and title of the poem you’ll be reading (if you know it ahead of time). That’s because other people like to know what the poem is, even if you’ve announced it before you read. It’s hard to remember sometimes.
Here’s how it will work:
— A zoom link will be set up, so just enter as you usually do at 12:15.
— I’ll start things off and Hawona, the Literary Witnesses chair, will make a few announcements.
— Then, let the poetry begin. Please enter the author’s name and poem title in the Chat so others can see it. I’ll call on people to keep things moving along.
— We really like it if you say something about why you chose this particular poem. It personalizes the reading and we get to know you better. Certainly not necessary if you don’t want to.
— Hawona and I will close the meeting at 1:15.
WE HOPE A LOT OF YOU WILL JOIN US AND READ. PLEASE DO. WE NEED YOU TO MAKE THIS EVENT A SUCCESS AGAIN THIS YEAR.
