Celebrating our Climate Action!

April 2024

Plymouth has been re-certified as a Climate Justice Congregation by MN Interfaith Power & Light!

Plymouth’s Climate and Environmental Justice (CEJ) group and other groups at Plymouth have done many actions over the last year that have advanced our work toward Climate Justice, including:

  • CEJ hosted multiple informational speakers, including one on Minneapolis’ BioChar program and one about Minneapolis Climate Action’s work on community solar.
  • Plymouth members participated in garden workdays on our church property to help tend our rain garden and other green spaces.
  • CEJ re-started regular in-person meetings in fall 2023 to come together and discuss our own personal actions and make plans for further action within the church.
  • CEJ hosted an informational table about IRA rebates and electrification.
  • CEJ kept our informational bulletin board updated with ways to lower our individual impacts, especially with electrifying homes.
  • CEJ began engaging a consultant to continue down our path to decarbonizing our church building, and building internal buy-in from church lay leaders.
  • Plymouth members toured Good Courage Farm, an agrarian ministry farm that focuses on regenerative techniques.
  • Plymouth members took a tour of a local community development organization’s newly built passive home.
  • Plymouth’s weekly Sunday Forum included a number of topics relevant to advancing Climate Justice, including Sustainable and Impact investing, Sustainable End-of-Life Options, Racial & Environmental Justice entwined, and Agrarian Faith.
