An Opportunity to Support the Care of the Plymouth Embroideries

As announced last summer, the Board for the Arts is coordinating an effort to raise funds for an Embroidery Endowment, its sole purpose being the care and preservation of the four Plymouth Embroideries and the embroidered furniture that grace the perimeter of Guild Hall.

Last August, Plymouth volunteers returned the four embroideries to Plymouth Church from the Midwest Art Conservation Center, which had frozen and cleaned them over the summer. This project is one example of future care and preservation that the Embroidery Endowment intends to support.

Our goal is to reach $50,000, believing that income from such an endowed fund would be sufficient to adequately support the care and preservation of the embroideries and embroidered furnishings well into the future. To date, more than $28,000 has been raised toward that goal.

Most of the donors who have given to this Fund to date have simply accompanied a completed Embroidery Endowment form with a check. Plymouth Church recently added the Embroidery Endowment to its Giving drop-down menu on its website as an additional way to contribute to this fund.
