Third Sunday Meal
On the third Sunday of each month, we gather with our Plymouth Congregational Church neighbors for a meal and warm conversation in a comfortable, welcoming setting. In addition to a nutritious, tasty meal, guests are offered items like soap, toothpaste, socks, and other necessities. A health care professional provides a listening ear, answering questions and suggesting additional community resources. Guests arrive between 5 and 6 p.m.
Third Sunday Meal is a program of Plymouth Congregational Church. Our downtown church partners include Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, and Westminster Presbyterian Church, who provide meals on other Sundays of the month.
The schedule for Sunday evening meals provided by Plymouth and our downtown church partners:
1st (& 5th) Sunday– Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church
2nd Sunday– St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral and First Unitarian Society (they collaborate to host the meal at Plymouth).
3rd Sunday– Plymouth Congregational Church
4th Sunday– Westminster Presbyterian Church
As a Volunteer
All volunteer tasks center on creating a nurturing evening for our guests. Volunteers interact with guests by serving food, distributing everyday necessities, sharing stories, and more.
