Askable Parents: Parents as Sexuality Educators
Parents are the most important sexuality educators their children will have. Are you ready to answer the difficult questions your children ask? Have you thought about how to communicate your values around sexuality? Do you have unhealthy sexual scripts lingering from the messages you received from your family and friends? The information and attitudes that adults share with their children—intentionally or by default—carry extraordinary power. It is a power that many of us struggle to wield effectively and confidently. Often, our own experiences, perspectives, and worries get in the way. Join Kate Taber for Askable Parents, a class for parents who seek the support and skills to be effective sexuality educators in a way that expresses their values and invites them to find support, insight, and courage with one another. This curriculum is adapted from one written by the creators of the comprehensive sexuality education curriculum Our Whole Lives and is intended to meet the needs of adults raising children of a wide age.
Classes will be held on Sunday, January 12 and 19, February 2 and 9 at 10 AM. CLICK HERE to register. Contact Rev. Kate Tabor at katet@plymouth.org with any questions.
