An event every week that begins at 11:00am on Sunday, repeating until June 30, 2019

Plymouth’s preachers engage minds and touch spirits as they address relevant issues and spiritual challenges. Our Congregational heritage particularly honors the preached word. Music at this service is extraordinary, drawn from the 14th century to today, with world premieres and excellent guest artists giving worshippers the opportunity to sing in unity and joy. Philip Brunelle, our organist-choirmaster, is renowned internationally for his musical and choral expertise.

Vocal Recital by Plymouth Soloists

As part of the celebration of Philip Brunelle's 50th year as organist-choirmaster at Plymouth Church, we host a recital by Plymouth soloists Maria Jette and Jenny French, sopranos; Lisa Drew, alto; Dan Dressen, tenor; and James Bohn, bass. Piano accompaniment by Philip Brunelle and Sonja Thompson.

Easter Sunday’s prelude will feature music for brass quartet, timpani and organ, beginning with Widor’s beloved "Toccata in F Major." The choir will sing majestic music of Hector Berlioz and also the world premiere of Cecilia McDowall’s "Rise, Heart"—the last of six anthems composed by six women composers in honor of Carolyn Brunelle being the only member of the choir consistently for these 50 years!

Carolyn Forché Reads

Activist, poet, editor and translator Carolyn Forché closes out the 21st season of Literary Witnesses by reading from "What You Have Heard Is True," a devastatingly lyrical new memoir that explores her journey into human rights work in El Salvador. The work is beautiful, benefitting from Forché’s graceful poetics and her gift for storytelling.
