A 200-seat theatre at the heart of Plymouth’s arts life — and open to the whole city.


The arts have been part of Plymouth’s life for generations — we believe creativity is one of the ways people encounter the sacred, and the Conn is where that belief takes the stage.

The Stage

The Conn is home to work with a social justice focus, in an inclusive, alcohol-free house — youth companies, Twin Cities theater, community groups, and international performers. Youth Performance Company and Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera have both been in residence here for years.

The Conn Theater is a vibrant performance and multimedia venue located at Plymouth Congregational Church near downtown in the Stevens Square neighborhood in Minneapolis.

Rent the Conn

Bring your production to The Conn.

The Conn is a 207-seat proscenium house with a 32-foot arch, 26 feet of stage depth, and 15 feet 9 inches to the ceiling. A four-foot apron extends the playing space, and a temporary extended stage is available for productions that need more room downstage. Two dressing rooms, an additional green room and rehearsal space, off-street loading, and on-site paint and wood shops support the build. Three accessibility seating positions are integrated into the house.

Recent upgrades have widened what the room can hold: touring concerts, film festivals, dance, screenings, readings, forums, podcast tapings, comedy, video shoots — and at least one small circus. Sound

An Allen & Heath QU32 console with iPad control feeds QSC mains, powered subwoofers, and a center fill. Stage monitors, a 24-channel snake to backstage right, and a working mic locker of Shure and Sennheiser dynamics cover most needs. Williams Sound wireless receivers provide hearing assistance throughout the house.


Projection and Livestream

A 7,000-lumen laser projector throws long from the booth to a 32-foot cyclorama at the proscenium. Three 1080 PTZ cameras mounted over the house support livestream and capture, with XLR, coax, and CAT5 runs to green rooms and backstage.

Lighting

An ETC Element 40 board drives a mixed inventory of LED and conventional fixtures — Source 4 ellipsoidals in three field angles, fresnels, pars, strip lights, and two followspots — across 48 dimmers. Color-changing LED pars and lekos are available for productions working without gel.

Most availability is currently mid-winter '26 and early spring '27.
