Plymouth’s first building, at 4th & Nicollet, was dedicated on December 22, 1857 — nearly five months before Minnesota became a state on May 11, 1858. That building burned on April 4, 1860.

In 1859, Plymouth’s minister Henry Martin Nichols encouraged the congregation to visit local saloons and urge them to close. The following Wednesday night, the building burned to the ground. Nichols received a raise.

The Sanctuary seats 650, including the balcony.

Plymouth’s Holtkamp organ was purchased in 1981 for $450,000 — about $2.5 million in today’s dollars.
